Juana just graduated from kindergarten. She’s looking forward to starting first grade. She should have a bright future ahead of her.

Unfortunately, in the Guatemalan community where Juana lives, only 6% of all students go on to study in the upper levels of high school.

AND Only 39.5% will go on to attend 7th grade.

Every year that Juana stays in school will increase her chances of having a better future.

According to the World Bank:

educating girls yields a higher rate of return than any other investment in the developing world.

In 2026, 30 girls began first grade at Colegio Horeb in Cotzal, Guatemala.
Statistically, only 2 of those girls will go on to study past the 9th grade.

Only two.

But WIND believes Juana’s story does not have to follow the statistics.

Join WIND as we help EQUIP, ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER through education and community support to transform future generations.

How WIND Serves in Guatemala

Christian Education

WIND partners with Colegio Horeb, a locally led Christian school serving nearly 500 students from preschool through upper secondary education in San Juan Cotzal.

child sponsorship

WIND’s 21 Girls and El Camino programs connect sponsors with students while helping fund teacher salaries, scholarships, educational materials, meals, and long-term encouragement.

Building a Permanent Future for Colegio Horeb

WIND is leading the effort to construct a new school on a three-acre site in Cotzal. This will allow Colegio Horeb to have permanent classrooms and auxiliary spaces to provide education for up to 700 students. 12 permanent classrooms across 3 buildings and a sport court have already been completed!
